About DarkHorse

The DarkHorse is the unrealized version of someone that even they have not fully met yet.

The DarkHorse Syndicate is a founder-led transformation and advisory institution for proven operators. It exists because too many capable people are building lives and businesses around who they learned to be instead of who they are actually capable of becoming.

What we believe

Real success requires alignment. Who you are, what you believe, how you lead, what you build, and how you live eventually have to tell the same story.

Most people do not have a strategy problem. They have an alignment problem. The gap may sit between ambition and behavior, between success and stewardship, between the company someone built and the leader capable of sustainably leading it, or between what someone says matters and what their time, money, and attention demonstrate matters.

DarkHorse is not designed to save people. It is for people willing to confront the gap. Potential matters. Potential without ownership is not enough.

What we stand against

We are not anti-success, anti-wealth, anti-ambition, or anti-hard work. We stand against misaligned achievement.

The enemy is the belief system that teaches capable people to solve internal and structural misalignment with more external achievement. That overwhelm is always solved by more discipline. That a company depending on its founder proves great leadership. That chronic sacrifice is noble. That enough money will create peace. That scale fixes structural problems. That every constraint is a limiting belief. That personal worth is the same as production.

Build more. Lead more. Earn more. Become more. But stop calling it success if everything that matters has to be sacrificed to keep it alive.

How we hold ourselves

Our claims are restrained. Every meaningful one should survive scrutiny. We publish client evidence only with permission, in context, and never treat a client's honesty as marketing inventory. We examine broadly and treat narrowly: the work may touch business, identity, marriage, health, money, and faith, but DarkHorse does not pretend to clinically treat what requires licensed expertise.

We do not call our approach a proprietary method. Methodology will be codified when enough real work has earned it. The institution must be allowed to be wrong, and every framework remains subject to evidence. The goal is never to make anyone better at needing DarkHorse.

Syndicate is a word we intend to earn. There is no membership, community, or network to join today. If one exists in the future, it will have emerged from the people who did the work.

Portrait of Dustin Lunde

Why Dustin

Dustin Lunde is a founder, operator, executive coach, and strategic advisor. DarkHorse was built by an operator, not around a coaching certification.

He has built and led businesses in the real world, across strategy, marketing, sales, operations, leadership, growth, and culture. He has held responsibility for payroll, customers, contractors, employees, margins, and outcomes. He has seen businesses work and seen them fail. He has chosen people based on potential and later confronted the cost of overriding evidence. He has lived the indispensable-operator identity, and confronted where his own leadership had become over-functioning.

He has experienced financial pressure and scarcity, lifestyle inflation, business loss, partnership problems, health neglect, alcohol-related struggle and sobriety, rebuilding, faith, marriage, and personal change. He remains an active operator rather than a detached commentator on business.

Installation services
At peak responsibility, led roughly $14M in annual installation services with 28 employees, 15 estimators, and 200+ contractors. Launched an Atlanta operation from roughly $0 to $1.5M in six months. Later launched two Florida offices that grew from $0 to roughly $4M in under twelve months. Much of this involved leading contractors through a materially different economic model.
BestLyfe Group
Co-founded in early 2021. Helped build it from $0 to roughly $250K in year one and roughly $1M by the end of year two. The team grew from three to fourteen and served 50+ clients.

His position is simple: I have built enough, lost enough, carried enough, changed enough, and coached enough people through similar patterns that I can see where your current operating system is likely to take you, and I will not help you lie to yourself about it.

He is not a therapist, physician, attorney, or omniscient life expert. He is an experienced operator coaching and advising proven operators at the point where who they are, how they operate, and what they have built have stopped fully matching.

Dustin writes about business, family, faith, fitness, and much else at wdustinlunde.com. DarkHorse is the narrower institution built from one part of that worldview.
